Neither God nor the holy Bible has appointed or ordained human
authority within the church. This seems incredibly wrong according
to our tradition and experience, but it is a fact! Jesus warned 5
times in the Bible that we should NOT exercise authority one over
another among ourselves. And certainly if you or someone you know
was abused by a member of the "clergy", awful, sinful, terrible
authority was committed. Tradition has completely clouded the
definition and function of ministry. In the new testament, ministry
is meant to be simple service that every believer does for God.
