Not Without Help!
Many people, (some very well meaning I am sure), have
presented the Bible, God's good plan for us, in this manner. The Bible
is a rule book, that we have to obey.
As we can clearly see, however, salvation is a free
gift. We must realize we cannot obey Gods law and are sinners, repent
of our sin, and accept by faith the work of Jesus Christ upon the cross.
His blood washes away our sin and we now have God's promise of everlasting
life.
In that he saith, A new
covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth
old is ready to vanish away. (Hebrews 8:13, KJV).
If any man
defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God
is holy, which temple ye are. (1 Corinthians 3:17, KJV).
Once being saved, we are called to obedience to God's word, and so many people have put this obedience first, instead of God. No, first comes God, and obedience to Him will come with the new man that He makes us into.
But we all,
with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed
into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(2 Corinthians 3:18, KJV).
Whereby
are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these
ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:4, KJV).
And that
ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and
true holiness. (Ephesians 4:24, KJV).
Having
abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained
in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
(Ephesians 2:15, KJV).
And
have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image
of him that created him: (Colossians 3:10, KJV).
