A sound mind. I don't know about you, but I sure would like to have sound mind. Did you know that a sound mind is a promise of God? Something that surely is in the will of God for us. Now, let me tell you, the world we live in is trying its best to give you an unsound mind--but God through His word says different.....

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2Timothy 1:7)

So, how do we get to that sound mind? Look carefully at this scripture. First we have to realize that God is not the one who gave us fear. If you are fearful--it's not Gods fault. Furthermore, you must realize that the fear you have is not your fault-! The Bible says it's a spirit--something that is laid on us by the world--by the devil--a spirit. So first, lets get rid of this spirit, so we can move on to that sound mind that God has promised us. The Bible lists the word spirit 464 times. Sometimes it is referring to the Holy Spirit--but many times it describes a spirit of fear or a spirit of jealousy--unclean spirits. So how shall we be rid of the spirit of fear that prevents us from having the sound mind that the Lord has promised us in His word?

Look again at our scripture. It is a path to a sound mind. Lets follow that path. First we have realized that the spirit of fear is what is holding us back from a sound mind. But God has laid out a path for us to follow to receive the sound mind He promises. The two steps that lead to your sound mind are by power and love.

Power. Get power. Well it makes perfect sense that if we can have God's power, we certainly won't have fear any longer--and will be well on our way to a sound mind. So, who's got the power?......

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." (Matthew 28:18)

Got it? Jesus has the power! All power! He created everything (including you)--He knows everything--He has all power--and He has your sound mind. Ask Him--trust Him--believe by faith that He can restore you and make you whole. Press in, pray through--as the woman with the issue of blood--reach for the hem of His garment--until Jesus says to you--"thy faith hath made thee whole" (Matthew 9:22)

Love. Did you know that love is a commandment? Love gives results. God is love-(1John 4:8)--and His power works through love--and specifically for the results we are looking for.....

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also."(1John 4:18-21)

Remember the spirit of fear, that is holding you back from having your sound mind? Well God says that His perfect love casts out fear! When God works His perfect love in your life you will not have fear, and you will have a sound mind.

"For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." (1Corinthians 2:16)

Wow! If you have the mind of Christ--how can you not have a sound mind? But you have to know this--You have to get it clear and strong in you--Jesus has all power-- that His love casts out all fear--So when you are in Christ--living in His love--you have His mind--and that is a sound mind! But look again at that scripture--The Bible says we can't say we love God and hate our brother. Sometimes we have to forgive some folks--and I know it's tough--but just think of the sound mind that the Lord has for you! We are praying with you in agreement, that you will receive a sound mind--through the power and the love of God in the name of Jesus!
