So,” he says, “you believe the Qur’an is a continuation of the Bible, right?”

Yes,” you reply. “We Muslims believe in all the same prophets

that Christians do, like Abraham, Moses, David, and Jesus, plus the

prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.”

But you don’t believe that Jesus is the Son of God?”

No,” you confirm, “the Qur’an is very clear that God has no son.”

So what about all the Bible passages that clearly state God has a Son? Let’s start in the Old Testament. Psalm 2 says ‘Serve the LORD with fear…Kiss the Son, lest he be angry.1’ It’s in the Proverbs too: ‘Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son’s name?2

Now,” he continues, “the New Testament over and over again identifies the Son of God as Jesus Christ. I know that Mohammed claimed to receive his reve-lations from the angel Gabriel. Well, Gabriel himself told Mary, the mother of Jesus, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you…So the holy one to be

born will be called the Son of God.3’ Also, the apostle John wrote his

gospel ‘so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of

God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.4’”

Well,” you argue, “those verses have been corrupted over time.”

But” he responds, “Jesus never said the Bible hadn’t been properly pre-served, Just the opposite; he said, ‘until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or dot will pass from the Law until all is fulfilled.5’ And do you really think God Almighty is incapable of preserving his holy word?”

But” you reply, “why do you believe that God is three?” Go to page 5.
