Do You Belong to Jesus?

"Once you were under Gods curse, doomed forever for your sins. You went along with the crowd and were just like all the others, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air, who is at work right now in the hearts of those who are against the Lord.

All of us used to be just as they are, our lives expressing the evil within us, doing every wicked thing that our passions or our evil thoughts might lead us into. We started out bad, being born with evil natures, and were under God's anger like everyone else.

But God is so rich in mercy; he loved us so much that even though we were spiritually dead and doomed by our sins, he gave us back our lives when he raised Christ from the dead,

only by his undeserved favor (grace) have we ever been saved--and lifted us up from the grave into glory along with Christ, where we sit with him in heavenly realms--all because of what Christ Jesus did.

And now God can always point to us as examples of how very, very rich his kindness is, as shown in all he has done for us through Jesus Christ. Because of his kindness you have been saved through trusting Christ.

And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God.

Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it. It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus;

......But now you belong to Christ Jesus, and though once you were far away from God, now you have been brought near to him because of what Jesus Christ has done for you with his blood." (Ephesians 2:1-10, 13 Living Bible)

Do you belong to Jesus? This is the question I would like to ask you. If your answer is no, or perhaps you are not sure, I would like to invite you to say yes to Jesus. The beginning of a lifelong relationship with Jesus begins by saying a simple prayer from your heart. I sincerely invite you to ask Jesus into your heart right now---there is a simple confession of faith at the end of this page. Say it to God from your heart and your life will change!

But I am going ask that question again...Do you belong to Jesus?

Many of you have said "yes" to this question. As you read the Bible verses above, you felt as if the words were meant for you--the words about salvation and belonging to Jesus. But I ask you to sincerely read the verses above once again.

Do you also see yourself as having been full of sin, obeying Satan, doomed forever by your sins? Look carefully at this passage as it could be the difference between life and death. There is a clear path to salvation--and the first step is the recognition of our own sin--the fact that we were born with sin!

Oh, but you can't ever remember doing anything so bad that you deserved to go to hell! You have always been a good person--well then, you have no need of Jesus! Jesus did not need to die upon the cross for you! He did not have to shed his blood to forgive your sin--because you say you have no sin! Please, I ask you--think carefully--have you accepted Jesus without acknowledging your sin? Go to the cross and ask Him why he died and bled! The cross is for the forgiveness of sin.... "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins," (Ephesians 1:7)

I don't mean to insult you, or hurt your feelings. But it can be very easy to fool ourselves into thinking that we belong to Jesus. I did it myself for many years. I read the Bible, I attended church--I saw God in the sunset and in nature. I felt His love. I was a good person--I tried not to hurt other people and be kind. But you see, God loves us even when we are still sinners...

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

But then one day I met Jesus. I came into the presence of God--and the first thing I realized was that I was a sinner. I was unworthy to be with Him. All my good works meant nothing when I saw His holiness and perfection--and I knew I deserved hell. But this was the greatest moment of my life! Now I needed Jesus! I realized at last that I needed the forgiveness and cleansing that only the blood of Jesus could provide! So I went to the cross--I saw Him beaten and bloodied there--and I knew it was for me He died. And I asked Him to cleanse me. It felt as if a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders. Having carried this burden of sin all my life I had not realized it was there--and yet now it was gone! And now I was saved! I was born again! A spiritual rebirth had occured--Jesus said "you must be born again" (John 3:3)

Jesus died for you. He shed his blood to cleanse you of your sin. Go to the cross and ask Him. You may think that you have experienced God's love--but I tell you--you will never know God's full love until you humble yourself before the cross and ask Jesus to be your Savior. Again, I ask you to read the scripture at the beginning of this page and walk through those passages yourself. They are meant for you. Jesus is meant for you. He died for you because he loves you.

Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior by saying this simple prayer: Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. But I believe that you died upon the cross for me. That you shed your precious blood, for the forgiveness of my sin. And I believe that on the third day you rose into heaven to prepare a place for me. I accept you now as my Savior, my Lord, my God, my friend. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and set me free from my sin. And, because you are my Savior, Jesus, I Òshall not die, but have everlasting lifeÓ. Thank you Jesus!
